Complying with Applicable Laws & Regulations

We play by the rules and ask for help when we’re not sure.

AppFolio takes its responsibility to comply with all local, state, federal, and international laws very seriously, including but not limited to:

  • Anti-corruption, anti-money laundering, sanctions and anti-boycott laws
  • Import and export control laws
  • Labor laws, including those governing minimum wages and working hours

We never participate in prohibited transactions, such as the import and export of certain goods and technologies, and we never deal with sanctioned individuals or businesses.

Human Rights Laws

We are committed to respecting human rights, and upholding all applicable human rights laws, rules, and regulations, including those pertaining to child labor, modern slavery, and human trafficking.

Environmental Sustainability

AppFolio is committed to caring for our people and the planet. Our sustainability efforts support our commitments to stakeholders that align with our core values.

We must comply with all applicable environmental laws and regulations, and we expect our suppliers and partners to do the same.

Trade Laws

Economic sanctions are trade restrictions imposed by governments that prohibit doing business or interacting with certain entities or individuals who may be sanctioned due to illegal activity.

All employees are required to follow these and all applicable international trade laws. If you have a role in the exchange of information or technology from one country or another, work with your manager and the Legal Team to follow all trade rules and properly document the materials, technology, or services that are being imported or exported.

Sanctions and other trade regulations are constantly evolving. If you don’t know whether trade or export controls apply to your scope of work, don’t take a chance. Contact the Legal Team.

Where this shows up:

  • Sourcing and onboarding new customers
  • Transmission of data or goods from country to county
  • Entering into agreements with third parties, particularly individuals or companies outside of the U.S.

Key Takeaways

  1. We take our responsibility seriously. We comply with all applicable laws and regulations.
  2. Ask for help. If you don’t know if certain trade laws apply to your work, ask the Compliance & Ethics Team.
